Hello,
I've home brewed a couple times on my own and I thought it would be fun to do my next 5 gallon (partial mash) with a couple of my friends. Just seeing if anyone has suggestions on this one as far as dividing the work or how else to go about it in order to get roughly a group of four guys involved. Thanks

Couple of friends, I'll assume three people total.
1 person mashes
1 person does first 45 minutes of boil
1 person does remaining 15 minutes of boil, whirlpools, and chills wort.

Or work on everything together, if they're new to brewing then make it a "learn to brew" day.
Make sure to have them come back, and show them how to bottle and make them do the whole batch :)

Definitely assign tasks if you want them to help, and not just watch, otherwise they'll likely just sit there and watch.

Or have another batch waiting to be bottled, if you want some beer you gotta bottle!

Have some friends over. Brew beer. Let things sort themselves out. Chances are, you guys will be too busy having fun and shooting the bull to actually follow any kind of agenda.

Agreed. However, don't expect much other than a couple guys drinking beer, watching you brew while you occasionally ask them to help you out with something like stirring the mash or tossing in some hops.

I've found that it can be a little chaotic having a social thing surrounding a brew day. Fun, but a little stressful.

I would have all the ingredients measured out, recipe ready, water premeasured as much as you can. If you show how easy it can be while you are well prepared and not running around looking for something.

Showing people how to brew is probably the best way to get people into the hobby. I've done this a few times and now the people I've Introduced to the hobby are introducing others.

I dunno. My friends are kinda ADD especially if there is beer around. They seem to love measuring out the grain and milling it. They always seem to get hungry during the mash/boil though and that is when I have to take over. Then they usually help again with the clean up because I can usually get them motivated by having them sing the cleanup song that my parents used to make me sing when I was a kid.

It makes a difference if you have friends who are there to help and learn, or friends who just want to kick back and shoot the breeze. For me anyway. I am often underprepared on brew day. I want to brew, but didn't get my ducks in a row ahead of time.

Then when I am scurrying around looking for stuff, measuring this, timing that, it's easy for me to get distracted by small talk. This turns brewday into a mess. Being prepared does a lot to combat this scenario.

This. I think the ridged planning of who will do what is not going to be fun. Whether you do the work yourself or they help, just have fun.
