Fresh honey

I am thinking of trying my hand at mead ( if memory serves me right trying BOM, the 1 month process) I am considering using local honey from a bee keeper. basicly straight from the hive. Would I need to do anything different? I am looking for suggestion.

I started brewing beer back in November of last year, and I have done a basic 1 gal cider so far.
