I'm new to keging i bought a kit with a hose that was too short 5'. so i bought a new hose 12' pourd great but after the first nite with the new hose on the beer froze in the ball lock. I checked the temp of the fridge it was 44 so was the beer temp the only place the beer iced was in the ball lock any ideas I'm at a loss?

By "ball lock" do you mean the removable connector at the end of the beer line - or the Out post on the keg that the connector plugs on?
If you suspect the former, dunk it in a pot of warm water.
For the latter, stick the keg in the tub or shower and pour warm water on it.

But...I'd be surprised if connector or post were the first things that froze.
Much more likely the beer line froze up before the keg or connector, especially if it was in contact with a cold plate in a mini-fridge...

Cheers!

No I checked the beer in the line it was fine and so was the beer in the keg it froze 2 times just at the connector at the top of the keg tge popit valve wouldent even seal untill i got the ice out I'm at a loss if the fridge temp and beer temp are both 44

I also had ice in the first foot of tubing coming out of the keg, don't know if the ball lock connector was frozen or not. My problem is the fridge, an older model that has no door for thr freezer compartiment in the top. So all the cold air from the freezer was "falling" on the beer put tubings.
I will make a door for the freezer and hope it will work. During the winter the keg fridge was turnes off because it was cold enough in the room to serve beer directly.
