I'm discovering sort of a pattern with my second batch. When I put one in the fridge at lunch and cone home from work hours later, I crack it open and get a great frothy head. But when I cool one quickly say in an icebath or freezer for 15 min its got a thin head that dissipates in seconds. Is this common?

Yes it is. CO2 needs time to absorb into the beer. It is never recommended to "flash" cool homebrew. My minimum is 48hrs. Most people will tell you to let the beer in the fridge for 2 weeks. This allows flavors to blend and the beer to finish clearing.

Great beer needs great head to go with it. :D

Thanks a ton man! I was beginning to sense that was the issue but I kept toying with improper sugar distribution at bottling time. I stirred this batch well and added biofoam as well. The pic posted is obviously one from the fridge. Thanks again!
