On friday night I was at the fancy beer store and the clerk recommended Founders Curmudgeon Old Ale. I took it home and fell in love. It was amazingly delicious!

As a home brewer I am not well versed in Old Ales or Barley Wines and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to a similar recipe (doesn't have to be an exact clone) to the Founders Curmudgeon.

At this point all I know is that it is 9.8% and 50 IBUs. Anyone know what type of yeast would get that flavor? Generally what type of hops are used? Etc...

I don't mean to reply to my own thread, but after a little more searching, I found an article from BYO magazine about old ales.

Brew Your Own: The How-To Homebrew Beer Magazine - Beer Styles - Old Ales

Hopefully this will get in the direction I want to go. If anyone has any recommendations though, please feel free to chime in!
