Have no idea how I forgot this. Added yeast and let ferment for about 12 hours before remembering. Added water to make 5 gal. Beer got a chance?

As cold as possible from the tap would've been better. It seems like hot'cold water mix would drive off the chlorine that'd keep the nasties at bay. But you never know,it might be ok...

Yeah, warm is one of the best environments for bad buggies.

If you're lucky the yeast will be able to reproduce fast enough to out compete the other microscopic organisms and create a hazardous environment to anything but themselves.

You might still get some off flavors but if your yeast ferment quick and hard you should be fine.

boy, I don't know. My tap water is not a risk at all- it's even good enough to drink! ;)

The only issues I can think of from tap water is chlorine/chloramines. They make the beer taste sort of like plastic. My city tap water is very lightly chlorinated so I can use it without any worries but my daughter's tap water in her town smells like a swimming pool coming out of the faucet. That would be my only concern.

I've had this happen to me before and used tap water as well, only about a gallon or so, but my tap water taste great. As Yooper has said, the only concern would be the amount of chlorine your city water dept uses. Good luck.
