So I just kegged my apa in a sanke keg and the temperature was at about 53 degrees which lead me to force carbonate at about 17 18 psi. After vigorously shaking the keg for ten min I unhooked my co2 and stuck it back in the fridge and its been in there for about a day and a half and I go to check it by pouring myself a beer and it seems as if the co2 try's to escape and is not flat but taste like a beer on nitro anybody have any advice on why this keg is not carbonating?

Hopefully I didn't misunderstand your post, but it sounds like you only had the CO2 connected for about 10 minutes. It takes time for the CO2 to dissolve in the beer, way more than 10 minutes. Read this. I suggest you use the "set and forget" method, its the best and easiest IMHO.
