So I have a dilemma, I just bought a kegerator and am really excited to start kegging my beer. However, I am leaving for Orlando in the morning for the Capital One Bowl. I wanted to get my beer in my cornys before I took off, preferably force carb it tonight, but I don't think I'll have time to clean my lines.

I only have one secondary fermenter, and I have one beer already sitting in primary. So, could I take my beer in my secondary out and put it in a corny and let it sit in the fridge for a few days? I won't be able to force carb until Jan 2nd, so it will be in the corny for about 5 days.

I am doing this just to free up the secondary. What do you guys think? Should I prime it with sugar instead and let it sit for a while or is it okay to just put it in the fridge and wait to force it?

Thanks!

Rack it to your corny, and add primer sugar and let it natually carb since you are gone.

Or wait till you get home and force carb, but your gonna be drinking in about the same amount of time....

2 weeks from the day you prime it with dex or 5-10 days of force carbing.

Sounds good. Should I put it in the fridge after racking it in the corny, or keep it at room temp?

Also, should I use the same amount of sugar to prime as I would if I were bottling?

A keg is a large bottle, treat it as such if you are preparing to drink... A keg is also a fermentation device (primary or secondary), treat it as such. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
