I was cleaning a grocery store and in the "Healthy no gluten no fat no sugar no taste all Natzi Food Section" i ran across some "Food Yeast" it has B12 and thiamine (B1) could this be used as yeast nutrient?

i would imagine only adding a couple of Table spoons to my 5G Carboy

Thanks.:rockin::ban::rockin:

The "food yeast" can be good to use as a yeast energizer. But the yeast also need nitrates, sources of amino acids. Just looking in a grocery store some golden raisins are good for this. About 25 chopped up per gallon. Two Tbsp of the food yeast should be fine.

All the raisins i find have sulfides as a preservative so i boiled some grapes to kill any yeast they had. wish i had raisins though. it's coming along though.

Thanks :drunk::):drunk:

Eh the tiny amount of sulfites on the raisins never hurt me. If you are really scared mix up the must first without pitching yeast and wait 24 hours. That is less sulfites then when you add Camden tablets to wine. The sulfites on the raisins will gass off in the 24 hours and you can pitch the yeast worry free.
