Does anyone have a good source for Food Grade Silcone Sealant.

I see a bunch on-line, But am looking for recomandations.

The walls on my rubbermaid cooler were not strong enough to get a good seal with a typical "weldless" o ring seal. Over time the became concave and have now started leaking. I am thinking a nice bead of silicone will do the trick.

I found this at McMaster Carr

Underwater Silicone Sealant
Create waterproof bonds on metal, plastic, glass, and rubber. Sealant forms a tough, rubbery solid that stays flexible and won't crack or shrink. It can be used on aquariums—once hardened, it will not harm fresh- or saltwater fish.
Begins to harden in 10-20 minutes and reaches full strength in 48 hours. Temperature range is -40° to +400° F. Color is clear.
Sealant is FDA CFR21 177.2600 compliant when it reaches full strength and is washed. Meets ASTM C920, Class 25. This product is VOC compliant in all 50 states as of October 1, 2008.

Thanks

Take a look at the weldless bulkhead thread in my sig below. I recommend drilling out the outside hole just a bit bigger so that you can support the inner wall better. That should take care of your problem for the long term, not just a slopped in fix.

I've used the same stuff before, as long as you allow it to cure for 48 hours or so and then wash the container with some oxy or something it will be fine. It is FDA approved, not that that means much these days.

You can occasionally find the exact same brand (DAP) in your local big box hardware store.

the silicone will peal away from the plastic. When I built mine I did the same as Bobby M . I also used a flat silicone gasket cut from a cookie sheet . Never had a leak
