Are we really bitching about glassware?
When it comes down to it, I really would prefer they provide us with a five or six pack of glasses, so we would be able to use the most properly shaped glass for the beer being poured. I am dreading drinking sours and stouts from the same glass.

Apparently #properglasswareatbeerfests is the new #newmoney.

So 1oz snifters?
Those are some generous pours...maybe we can give those to VIP ticket holders (after charging them double the GA price).

GA ticket holders will get one of these:

Anyone volunteering or volunteered in the past? Care to share your experience? I have a friend who has volunteered the last two or three years and I'm thinking about tagging along with her to the meeting at Revolution next week.

Also might be interested in buying a Friday session ticket if anyone has one if volunteering doesn't work out.

I thought they were done eliciting volunteers, but the website's up still: http://www.illinoisbeer.com/fobabvolunteers/

If you want to volunteer, go to that site. I wouldnt simply show up to the volunteer session . . . although they probably wouldn't turn you away.

I volunteered last year on Friday night, in order to get a Saturday night ticket. The Saturday night one's the most crowded session, since they give free tickets for that session to the volunteeers from (1) the Friday morning / afternoon volunteer session (the set up), (2) the Friday night volunteer session, and (3) the Saturday afternoon volunteer session. Still, there is no early IMBIBE hour on Saturday night, so there's a much higher possibility of getting the walez then than on Friday.

For what's it worth, I didnt attend either of the volunteer training sessions last year. . . and they made me a section leader anyway. So, I dont know what the training entails. I imagine it is not enough to fill 2 or 3 hours though As for the volunteering, it was a long day, as I worked my normal 8-hour job beforehand. It is worth it for the free ticket though - but then I dont mind talking about beer with strangers. Plus, in the volunteer set up room, there are two kegs of beer if you want to drink during breaks (nothing great, but still). On the floor you're not really supposed to drink, but most of the folks I supervised were doing so. I mean, you need to know the flavor profile of the beers you're pouring, right? Because of that I was able to try some good stouts I didnt need to waste time ticking the next night.

Anyone know how strict they are when entering with a ticket with someone else's name on it? I read they are non-transferable and I'm about to buy a ticket off someone who will not be attending.

edit: derp, doesn't look to be a problem

If anyone has or hears about available Saturday evening tickets, please give me a shout - I will guaranteed buy two (and will be very insistent on giving thank you/finders fee beers ☺).

I have two friends coming into town, the plan now is for them to go find a bar to hang out while another friend and I FoBAB...but if they could join us instead, that would be rad.

According to CCBE, they still need volunteers. Maybe they could do some bitch work earlier and get in for free?

If anyone has an extra ticket for Saturday night, please holler at me. Will pay a bit over face for the trouble. Trying to hook up my sister in law so she can actually enjoy the event instead of picking up two annoying drunks from the train. Thanks in advance!

I'd say check CL or the other site's ticket section.

Here's one posted 18mins ago, get on it!

I have someone who claims to be buying my extras on Wednesday, if for any reason she doesn't come through, I'll let everyone here know. And I loooooooove thank you beer (though I'd probably turn it into a trade, but anyway)

Here is the most important thing I learned tonight at the Festival of Barrel & Wood-Aged Beers (FoBAB) meeting: They need more volunteers!

If you want more deets on this unique fest, message me. If you want to help, message me and I will get you the volunteer coordinators email - she will set you up.

Peace!

Posted tonight by a brewer friend who was at an organizing meeting tonight. While all of us might have a particular issue here or there with the event these days, it is a great way to attend the festival and get some experience volunteering with a larger festival (if anyone is into that).

If anyone wants to get involved shoot me a BM and I'll put you in touch with folks.

I heard this and answered the call. If anyone wants to talk about beer or burgers, I'll be pouring Friday night.

Got to try the Handsworth on Monday night. Wasn't a fan. The first and last ones sound like they'd be quite refreshing, however
