First timer here...what are the lines like? Can you try most things you want to try with relative ease?

My father in law can't make it so I have 1 ticket for Friday available. $68 face value with fees. Can meet in Chicago.

It looks like I still have a ticket for the Saturday afternoon session if anyone is interested (session 3). Cost was around $68. PM me.

CCBE group good today. Dunt ain't wrong

I said this after FOBAB last year, but it appears they doubled down on letting in all of these mediocre start ups take up to half the spots in the fest.
This leads to something I was thinking about after the fact. If I was the guild, I'd be hesitant to allow these start up breweries that have yet to prove they can even make good regular beer let alone barrel aged beer spots in the fest. Places like Begyle, Finch's, Lake Effect, Nevin's, Pig Minds, Slap Shot, Tighthead, Triptych etc. It'd be nice if those spots could be used by breweries that have established barrel aged programs. Although I'd guess if there were established breweries that wanted in, they probably would be.

Judging on how my interactions with them have gone, this **** has just turned into a money grab.

Happy some people agree, that group has gone full retard. I didnt think what I was saying was all that controversial, but apparently I am in the wrong for wanting breweries with established histories of barrel aging to have the spots. I mean seriously, is this list a joke? Look at Ratebeer and check out some of these places!

Middle Brow (no beers over 10 reviews, HAS THREE ******* BEERS!)
River Dog (2 beers over 10 reviews)
Hailstorm (1 beer over 10 reviews)
Rude Hippo (not even in database)
Mystery (8 beers over 10 reviews)
Southern Prohibition (3 beers over 10 reviews)
Like Minds (no beers over 10 reviews, HAS ONE ******* BEER!)
Buckledown (1 beer of 10 reviews)
Woodfour (2 beers over 10 reviews)
Champaign County (no beers over 10 reviews)
Mobcraft (2 beers with over 10 reviews, this is a ******* homebrew club)
Big Shoulders (1 beer over 10 reviews, HAS THREE ******* BEERS!)
Blacklist (1 beer over 10 reviews)
Stickmen (no beers over 10 reviews)

I realize people are supporting the work of friends or their own and Im completely fine with that, but dont feed me ******** about how the price increase is justified. There is plenty of **** I will drink there, and I am sure to go check out some new stuff because that's part of the fun, but this is poor form. This gives me a bad feeling that this is more geared towards getting friends of Crowley's exposure even if their beer sucks ass, which assuredly, most of it will.

There are all sorts of issues with how the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild is being run at the moment in my opinion, and at this point it's not even Pete's friends but Justin Maynard's friends. It's literally become a guild to benefit their friends at the (possible) expense of other IL breweries. And why aren't we calling it Festival of Midwest Barrel Aged Beers that are majority from Illinois.

I'm going in with a positive mind set for Saturday, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be my last year of attendance as well...

I hate that all those idiots in CCBE were trying to justify every little critique we had. All of them want to hang on the nuts of everything Chicago beer on the off chance they think that'll eventually come back to benefit them in some way.

I'm also going in with a positive mindset for Friday, but I don't have high hopes for the overall value of the festival being worth what it costs. Most likely my last time with IMBIBE as well.

I sadly have the same feeling. $70 is hard to swallow after seeing some of that brewery list and considering how some other festivals are being run.
Dunt what was the cost of The Festival tix in LA? That **** looked like a ******* blast.

I bought a whole day pass which ran $90, but got it for $45 with a 50% off password I got for attending a charity event. In my opinion, it might've been the best beer event I have ever attended (that's saying A LOT considering how much I love and care about the Great Taste). With tickets, each session tacked on an extra $20 or so for 25 drink tickets. So for the day, I got absolutely blasted on epic beers for roughly $85. Two sessions of FOBAB on saturday wouldve cost me $150.

if the blacklist is the one in MN the only beer ive had from them that was good was a beer they made before they were a brewery.... red sours are my week spot...
the other ones Dunt mentioned.....

Jesus! The 50% off makes it even more amazing, especially since it was in LA.
The one upside I see to the increased exposure of FoBaB, are the pre party events taking place similar to the GToM. I may just save my money on the tix next year and just hit more events.

That fest is on my list and was for this year, I was bummed to see it 1. in Nov and 2. not in New England where it's always been ( or at least in my knowledge)
