I moved my first batch over to its secondary today and, about 5 hours later, I noticed this. I was a little shy of the the 5gal line in the carboy, and attributed that to lost in the trube, but wasn't expecting this [foamy reaction]. Is this normal, or should I be worried? Dunkelweizen, FYI.

Not what they should have been. I went with the decision that was in line of what my brewers store told me, and not with accordance of what gravity was telling me. Newbie haste and foolishness, I know. I modified the airlock onto a blow off hose and will just leave it be for 2 weeks where it sits. FML, I hope I didn't just ruin my brew.
 
Ease back there, no FML here. There are lots of sites and people who will talk about moving from primary to secondary before fermentation is up. It is not the worst thing you can do to your beer and it won't be for that matter. :) The beer looks great and I bet it will taste awesome.

That said, how did you rack from primary to secondary? Just curious if you poured or syphoned. If you poured then you have foam for that reason. If you syphoned then it looks like it still wants to ferment. Why did you rack to secondary anyway? I've done it once and that only because I added toasted coconut. I wouldn't do it again unless adding something like that, oak, etc etc. I worry too much and things get all crazy around the house. In fact, I have to mop again because I spilled stout on the floor and it's stickier than a couch in a whore house.
 
I am a newbie, and following input from a couple of friends that have been brewing for quite some time. The brew store guy suggested to move it at 2-3 days, regardless of the gravity reading, while my buddy said 6-8 days. I siphoned and ended up getting a some trube in the last, spitting moments of the process, and that ended up with a few air bubbles making its way in as well. I chose to move it for additional settling and clarification. Here's a snap if what it looks like this morning, and yes, more fermenting is what it wants to do.

Another questions, should I bother with a bottling bucket for a few days, or just bottle straight from here?

You should move to secondary after fermentation finishes, certainly after a week depending on the beer type. However your beer will be fine, don't worry about that. You will still get that foam for the next couple of days. Next time listen to your friends :)
 
I moved it at 7 days. I guess I will be more aware of the use of gravity readings and what I've been reading in forums. Thanks for the input. My concerns have been subdued; I'm sure I'll have some great beer.
