Since the herb garden is in full bloom I had an idea to make a Belgian Golden with flowers. The garden is organic so I'm not concerned about chemicals or pesticides creeping in. Right now I'm making three tinctures using catnip, lavender and nasturtium flowers soaking in decent vodka (Stoli). I was going to try using lime basil flowers, but picked up to much of a vegetative smell from them.

I'm considering trying tinctures with the dill and sweet basil, but was wondering if anyone else has tried making tinctures from flowers and what their results have been?

When adding unusual ingredients, I often use tinctures - it gives me more control. Of the ingredients you listed, I've only used basil. The most successful use of a tincture was with lemongrass which we added to a Saison, which went on to win a medal last summer. I think the lavender sounds really interesting, in a light lager, blonde or cream ale perhaps. Something without a lot of hop aroma, so the lavender aroma comes through.
