I have a Johnson temp controller (A419) that has stopped working, and I am trying to see if it can be repaired. It continues to turn on and register a temperature, and the light comes on appropriately to turn on or off the appropriate appliance. However, the power out chord does not actually produce power. So, although the temp controller is plugged in to the wall, and my chest freezer is plugged into the temp controller, and the temp controller tries to turn on the chest freezer, nothing actually happens.
The freezer works fine, so that is not the problem. It seems to be whatever component of the A419 that is responsible for redirecting the power into the appliance of choice is not working.
Anyone have any thoughts as to what component may be the problem, and wether or not it can be fixed? I have a working knowledge of soldering and limited electrical knowledge, but am not an electrical genius. However, any help would be appreciated.
