Howdy! I've made a couple Bomm's and Joams but this time tried to do a gallon of traditional with just honey(local producer nice light honey3lbs) and d47 yeast pitched like the directions on the package. I was trying to just use those ingredients but after 34 days my Gravity has gone from 1.112 to 1.074 . Seems stuck . For the first week I gave it a light shake every day and then left it . So today I added 1/8tsp dap and 1/4 fer maid k. Have I ruined my mead or will it start again? Tastes nice just like honey and water with a touch of alcohol now . Was hoping it would go without adding anything but figured I could always try again .

There aren't enough nutrients in just honey and water. Raisins work great or the nutrients you already gave but you have to feed the yeast before they crap out. I would repitch another packet and give them more frequent nutrients, unless you like 5% abv honey water

I've got into the habit of adding two vitamin B1 tablets to my mead must at the beggining which it says is for "flower wine" which is deficient in it, as I can imagine honey and water is.

For nutrients i add 4 or 5 1/4 tsps of Youngs yeast nutrient, the ingredients of which are diammonium phosphate and ammonium sulphate.

I heard Marmite or Vegemite can be used as yeast energiser, along with raisins for yeast nutrient, if store-bought chemicals aren't ready at hand.
