First Time Kegging today - Noob questions

1. O-Rings: sanitize, then lube - or lube, then sanitize?

2. Do I need to sanitize the gas lines?

1. probably doesn't matter, but I sanitize first - then lube. The lube is in a tube and should already be sanitary.
2. if you want to be really anal you can sanitize the gas lines. thing is, the lines are going to be filled with CO2 and not oxygen - not really an environment that stuff can live in. I didn't sanitize my lines and have been fine for 5 years.

I use lube very sparingly and sanitize with StarSan before and after lube. I just keep some starsan in a spray bottle and hit everything before reassembling the keg. It's a no rinse product and really is a brewers friend. Running some sanitizer through your gas lines is a good idea but I only do it occasionally. Since beer has alcohol in it and its held at cool temps, the likelihood of an infection is low.
