Ive read through a few threads and just kind of confused about the whole yeast harvest, washing, etc(dont know the correct wording). I want to start saving the yeast I'm using instead of paying $8 or so a pop everytime I brew. From what I read, basically what I'm interested in doing is putting my beer in the fermenter, having it ferment for a few weeks, keg it, and put the yeast at the bottom of the fermenter in mason jars and use it for a couple more batches. Is there any problem with that? I never use a secondary anymore, do i need use a secondary if I want to save the yeast? How many flavors are going to be in the yeast from hops or fruit peels I add to the fermenter? Thanks for any help.
