First time brewing in garage

Got my Top Tier about 2 weeks ago. Finally got my burners and pump set the way I want them. Tested everything out, and ready to go for the weekend.

But I am still a little nervous, this will be the first time I will be brewing in the garage. I use to brew out in the back yard. But the wind can be a pain sometimes, so I have moved everything in the garage. Plus I figure it's better to keep the stand protected from the elements.

I will keep the garage door open, so not worried about fumes. Just concerned about the fire hazard. What do you guys think? Back yard or Garage?
 
A lot of people brew in the garage. From a fire hazard aspect, unless your walls are finished in dry grasses and brush, you will be fine. I'd be more worried about maintaining proper ventilation due to CO hazards.
 
If you have your garage door open you should be fine. I've heard some people brew with the garage door open like maybe a foot. Not exactly something I would do. Some have gone as far as getting a CO2 monitor, but I think that might be a bit overkill. You'll get a fair amount of air circulation from the heat of the burners, but if you're worried about CO2 a box fan would help get better circulation.
 
Should be no problem brewing the garage. Sometimes in the winter I only keep it open about one section. As far as a fire hazard, maybe you're confusing it with turkey frying. That is a fire hazard because the oil can ignite. Wort doesn't.
 
Does CO sink below air like CO2? I was also hoping to brew in my garage over winter while having the door open about a foot. I would stick an exhaust fan under the door if I knew the CO would sink down and be exhausted near the ground.

I test fired my stand with the door about a foot open and the place eventually started to smell a little funny. I know CO has no odor but could there be other (toxic/unpleasant) fumes staying around?
 
I only brew in my garage and have never had a problem with CO2. And yes I keep the door either wide open or about 3/4 feet. Never needed a fan though although in the summers it would be nice!

You're probably burning paint off the new stand.
