So I have been doing extract brewing for the past 6 months and am ready (or so I think) to try all grain. I just built my mash tun and was wondering if anyone had a good, maybe eaiser, recipe for my first all grain. Thanks!
Try a SMaSH brew. Single Malt, Single Hop.
Best way to break into all grain with minimal overhead, hop schedule and great result.
Mine was a Marris Otter/Fuggle SMaSH brew.
Gets you more in tune with what the malt and hops profiles are as well.
try a 5 gallon simple pale recipe:
8.5 lbs 2 row
1 lb 40L
.5 lb victory
1 oz simcoe@ 60 min
.5 cascade@15 min
.5 cascade@ flame out
I use Us-05 or S-04(english)
I do partial boils, 4 gallon, top off in fermenter(like a partial mash recipe)
if doing full boil, have to adjust the hop additions.
