I've been lurking for awhile now, and finally decided to go ahead and create an account. I just started brewing three months ago but have learned so much just reading the forum and talking to some of my buddies and the LHBS. It's something I had wanted to do for awhile but just had never taken the leap to buy the equipment and give it a go.

My favorite beer is DFH 60 Min, and a close second is the Southern Tier 2XIPA. My first brew was just a Brewers Best IPA kit that I added Warrior to and continuously hopped the boil. I put together a 60 Min recipe based on a few clones I've found and what I know about the beer. Not one of the recipes seemed spot on, so I sort of made a aggregate.

Please give me any advice or feel free to expand upon anything. This is something I really enjoy doing, and brewing has become my hobby. Here it is:

7lbs Pale/Light LME
1lb Extra Light DME
1lb Caramel Malt 40L(steeping)
1oz Amarillo Continuously hopped
1oz Warrior continuously hopped
.5oz Simcoe continuously hopped
1oz Amarillo dry hopped at 7 days
.5oz Simcoe dry hopped at 7 days

WYeast Ringwood Ale Yeast(1187) - not really sure about this. Not super knowledgeable about yeast strains, so please feel free to chip in. I was even thinking just the regular Nottingham I guess...I don't know. This is where I can use some help.

I'm even thinking about dry hopping a .5oz of Warrior, too. If this is anywhere near being right, I have a 90 Min clone I've worked up too that I think might be delicious.

I'm not really knowledgeable enough to say how close this will be, but if I turns out close I'm definitely going to try it myself because I love DFH 60 min IPA.

I think all IPAs have their own unique blend... so if you want a dgh 60 min then just try clone after clone of the stuff to you find it. I was the same way but wanted the 90 min, and i tried my own insane ipa and now that is my favorite so just brew it and see what happens

Looks good to me. I didn't use any DME but my recipe was quite similar. The only other things that I did differently were adding the whole ounce of amarillo at the beginning and then I mixed 1 ounce of simcoe and warrior together and tossed random bits in here and there during the boil. Oh, and I used the wlp001 yeast. I also added one ounce of both the simcoe and amarillo for dry hopping :D It is in the secondary right now and will be bottled on Friday or so. I will try to post the results here when it is ready.

Sounds good. I don't know if I asked before, but I know nothing really about yeast. Should I just get like one little packet thingy? How much should I use?

This recipe is really good:

Lean on the Amarillo more than the other hops. I suggest using solely Warrior for the first 30 minutes and blending the other hops into more heavy additions for the last 30 minutes. The Ringwood yeast strain should work well.

I want to second this... I brew this as my house IPA now. Delicious!

I use White Labs Nottingham with this typically.. but I got some Pacman in a few days ago and will be trying that this weekend.
