Well folks, I am STOKED! Did my first partial mash today. I call it Limey Skalleywag!!! ARRRR!!! This is my take on a corona clone with lime already added(this is for my sake, diddn't want to have to cut any for my friends to enjoy this beer. Laziness is the mother of invention!)

1 Lb 6-row
1 Lb Flaked Corn
.5 Lb Cara Foam
3lbs Light DME

.66 oz liberty 4% hops @60 min
1.34oz liberty 4% hops @15min

WYeast 2112 California Lager

the juice from 12 limes!!!! YIKES!!! WHEEE!!!!

the OG was 1.040 on a 5.5 gal batch.(@70 degrees F. so that bumps it up to 1.041?) I plug it into TastyBrew.com and get 1.036. Q: does that mean my efficency was good or did the 12 limes have that much sugar in them? (yes, 12 limes!!! HHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!) Thanks to my fry daddy, I kept the temp steady @153 Degrees F. for 90 min with 2and 1/2 liters of water (did a 2 hour test prior to actually doing it) and I did 2 mini-batch sparges with 2 liters of 170 degree water for 5 min each. All of my reading these boards and I diddn't know how long to stirr the grain in a batch sparge and let it sit. Figured it was just to rinse the sugars out of the grain so I figured 5 min of stirring would do the trick. *shrug* Tastes kind of tart. Little off balance with the lime juice but that was kinda the point. Even through the juice I can still taste the malt and the hops, but mainly taste lime. :D Can't wait to see how it turns out! Looks darker than it should but I attribute that to having the brew kettle on my electric stovetop. Maybe some scorching going on? Oh well, I think this'll be a nice light, limey chuggin beer!!! Does anyone think @ 65 degrees F. this will ferment out and be drinkable in bottles in 23 days? hehe, think that's pushing it? If I want to try and enjoy this green beer(should use some food coloring to make it lime green, LOL!!!) should I just keg it on day 22, push the psi up to about 30 and roll it around on the floor for 4 hours, then toss it in the fridge? Hate to rush a beer but would be fun to have it for a party coming up. Any thoughts?:mug: :tank: :drunk:

I'll be interested to hear if the lime juice inhibits the yeast. Personally, I would have been inclined to introduce the lime juice in the secondary (maybe introduce a little lime zest into the boil). Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out. Always interested in different ways of doing things.
