So I gave a shot at my first partial mash today. I brewed the Speckled Heifer from NB and it started out well. However, I was about half way through the boil and I ran out of propane. F#$%! I went to Lowes exchanged my tank, listened to some good ol country music, and came home to continue my boil. I thought I was screwed but my LHBS put my mind at ease saying I should be fine, which I had figured because reboiloing should kill off any potential bacteria.

I finished cooling with my wort chiller, moved to fermenter, yada, yada, yada.

I got an OG of 1.042 which is exactly what it is supposed to be according to the recipe! And I hit my post boil volume spot on 5 Gal exactly!

Even though I had a mini freak out I think it was a success and I hope it tastes as good as everyone says!

I'm sure it is going to be great! I have ran into the running out of propane issue before, however my homebrew buddy always keeps a spare tank so we lucked out haha :mug:

Let us know how it turns out!

It's interesting when you find out partial mash isn't all that difficult. It then opens up a whole new world of flavor possibilities! :mug:

Yeah a backup tank might be in order in the near future.
I hope it turns out, I have heard good reviews about this brew. I left her n the cool brewing bag this morning at 63, hope its stays below 70 before I get home.

Came home to see it went down in temp, I really like this cool brewing bag. Crazy krausen I haven't seen this before the foam bubbbles pippin through the krausen looks cool.
