Hi Folks,
I'm trying my first lager beer. I brewed a 5 gal. batch California Common type of ale. I'm using White Labs WLP810 lager yeast. It has been 5 days, bubbling pretty good. I have a steady temperature of 53-54 deg F. But what is that sulfur smell? I hope the finished product doesn't taste like that.

Thanks,
Ed

If you're smelling sulfur now, during the primary ferment, you won't smell (or taste) sulfur in the finished beer.

Be sure to have it scrubbed out before packaging. Next time you could use some zinc to have less of the sulfur, like Servomyces yeast nutes.
