Brewed my first lager. I noticed a couple of wierd things.
1. The yeast clumped up into big cottage cheese looking things. Some were on the top and some were on the bottom. I left in primary for 3 weeks at 52 degrees and the big stuff at the top never dropped out. But I checked gravity over 3 days and its definately done fermenting.
Used WLP800 Pilsner lager yeast.
Tasted it and it tastes fine so I dont think it was an infection.
Problem was when I tried to rack to keg I had to put a cheesecloth over the racking cane and I got a TON of cavitation. The beer in the keg was pretty foamy when it was done. Capped it and purged O2 layer with CO2. But I'm afraid I oxygenated the wort.
Any way to bleed out the o2 in the keg or am I screwed?
I did not like the way this yeast performed at all. It was a huge pain to rack and never dropped out.
Anyone else have any experience with this yeast?
