I am about to brew my first IPA, and am unsure about the hop schedule.
From reading around I noticed that there are two basic approaches,
big additions, spread out, or a bunch of small additions. I'm looking for
some input for my recipe about this.
These are my ingredients:
4 lbs Amber DME
3 lbs Light DME
1 lb Crystal 40L
as for the hops
I have 1 lb cascade at my disposal.
I do not have a secondary fermenter, and was planning on
dry hopping in the primary a 5 - 7 days in to fermentation.
I was planning on following this hop schedule:
2oz 60 min
1 oz 20 min
1 oz 10 min
1 oz 0 min
1-2 dry hop.
does this sound good, or should I split it up more,
I have a lb to mess with here, I also have a few ounces of
Hallertau and Tettnang, but from what I understand, they
should be left out of this recipe.
Thanks for your help.
