So I finally cracked open a bottle of my first home brew.
Here are some pics. Ended up being 5.5% alc.
It tasted great and was smooth. Have two in the fridge to get cold so I can try it good and chilled.
Surprisingly no sediment either in the bottle. (It was one of the first bottles too so it wasn't close to the bottom)

Looks tasty. What beer did you brew?

It's a chocolate caramel brew.
I was going for a lager and didn't realize I was fermenting it to hot.
Actually reading to book now so I know more about the fermenting now.
(I was anxious and brewed it before I read how to brew lol)
I knew some about being from other hobbies, so I figured heck why not. If I screw it up ill try again.
I pretty much got caramel, chocolate, and amber malt (all grain brew) cascade hops and us-05 yeast and went to town.

Go ahead and get the two bottles well chilled. Pour one when it is really cold but take the other one out and let it warm for an hour. Compare the two flavors.:mug:

Welp they both actually tasted really good. I like the chilled a little better but surprisingly they both taste pretty good.

I'm having a few friends over and they all are going to taste it and let me know what they think.
I'm having about 10 friends and family try it and see how others like it.

As your dark beer sits in the bottles longer its flavors will meld more and you will notice flavors that weren't evident in your first tasting. I think that is when the cold bottle/warm bottle sampling will show the differences better. I like my dark beers a bit warmer than the lighter ones because it does cause the flavors to come out more.

Does the flavor normally change a bit after the full 2 weeks in the bottles?
They have been bottled for 1 week and 2 days.

When it was a little warmer then the cold it was pretty good but seemed a little more bitter then the cold one.

Thanks

I find that the flavor continues to change from one week to the next early in the bottled period and then slows but it continues to change slightly for months. One of my stouts got really smooth to drink at about a year.

Oh wow! A year later...

If it improves a little in the next week that would be great!
My only complaint is I want it a hair smoother but other then that it is great.
Maybe by Friday it'll change a hair and be just a bit smoother.

Thanks!
