Here is a pic of my first bottle and first brew ever. It tastes really good just a little dry in the middle but I am sure time will fix that issue. Primary for 1 week, secondary for 1 week and bottle for 1 week. I just tasted it and very good. I know it will get better the longer it is in the bottles. So here are the pics of my Irish Stout

i am so happy my first turned out not only drinkable but pretty tasty.

thanks for your compliment

Just a hint. Don't leave it in the bottles too long as it will probably over-carb. If you want a better stout next time, leave it in the primary longer, something like 3 weeks so the yeast has time to clean up after itself.

Congrats!

Leaving it in the bottle for a long time won't cause it to overcarb. That is a product of how much yeast is still active and how much sugar is left unattenuated.

Agreed on leaving it in primary longer.

Great job! Can't wait to get my first brew going, just gotta finish my equipment list and get 'em coming.

Hey Red - no need to finish that list. Just head up to Beer Crazy in Urbandale. There are always people there to help - and it's much more fun to see and touch the equipment in person.

My favorite part is that I can taste each of the different malt grains sitting on the shelf. Chewing on a few grains to compare 40L, 120L, and Choco is priceless.

-and no, I am not affiliated with them.

Just tasted my first bottle/first batch last week and am trying not to try another bottle this week!

Congrats on the first bottle, awesome to taste the fruits of your labor, isn't it?

I was trying to say just that. I bottled mine too soon and the yeast wasn't finished yet so it added to the sugar I used to prime. :cross:

I am going to leave my current Belgian White in the primary for 2 weeks and everything else from here on out for 2 weeks as well or longer.

Nos33...you will ALWAYS remember popping open that first beer of your first batch. Just the "hssssss" coming out is really exciting! Glad it turned out well. Enjoy!

Really nice to see a "I just popped my cherry and its one of the best beers I ever had rather than the typical noob I think I ruined my beer should I dump it or why does all my beer taste like a$$ posts" :D

Word to the wise, as good as THAT tastes, the last one will be the best!!! Just the way it works, so BREW MORE BEER!!!

Welcome to your new obsession :mug:

Congrats! I liked the pictures. I'm looking forward to my first, but it's not in the bottle yet. :) I'm glad yours turned out!
