So I brewed my first beer on Saturday! It's an Irish Stout from Brewer's Best. Everything seemed to go fine during the brew and was done at about 2:30. Since then, nothing has happened. I opened the lid this morning to just look inside, and the Krausen hasn't even started to form. Should I repitch the yeast if nothing has happened when I get home from work tonight? Also, the room temp is a about 59-60, should I move it somewhere warmer? Thank you for the help!

What type of yeast are you using (liquid / dry + brand)? That will determine what temp the fermenting wort should be at. What temperature was the wort when you pitched?

My beers often take 30 to 36 hours for fermentation to show. Check on your beer tomorrow.

It was a dry yeast package that came with the kit. I don't remember the brand. Maybe the wort was too warm, I thought it was cool enough. Maybe I'll wait another 24 hours...

I'd kick the wort temp up to 64F to get it going. Some ale yeasts like Cooper's & Munton's get slughish below 64F or so.

Just an update...moved the fermenter to a warmer room and wrapped it in a sleeping bag. Temp is now 61 and fermentation started last night about 76 hours after pitching! Sorry for being an impatient first time brewer...haha

I figured it was a little too cool to start fermenting. 61F is good for the likes of US-05 & similar yeasts.
