I just tried my first batch, its n APA, it tastes great , lots of cascade hop flavor. But I have 2 concerns.
first, it's really cloudy. I know that was probably A poor starch conversion, been my first batch, i'm sure that's it.
The second is the foam and head dosent last very much, like a mn. tops. Is this related with the poor starch conversion?

Thanks

Poor head retention could be related to conversion issues. But it also could be ingredient related (lack of head retention ingredients), or even the glassware used. To make sure it's not the glassware, try taking the glass and moistening it with water. Then sprinkle some salt in it and "scrub" the glass with salt all over inside and around the rim. Rinse well, and dry with a soft glass. Then pour a beer and see if it's better.

If it's recipe related, adding some flaked wheat or crystal malt or carapils in the next batch will really help. Fixing the conversion issues will also help.

If it's not poor conversion, and the cloudy beer is due to something else (not a good hot break or cold break for example), it may clear eventually and give you better head as it ages.

Im pretty sure it was the converion, because I didn't monitor the temp in the mash. It was my first brew, upps!!!!
