Hey guys. I just bought all my supplies and my first batch last week. I got the Coopers Canadian blonde to start off easy. The lady in the brew store said add the kit, 1kg of dextrose, and kit yeast to the pail and ferment. I picked up another 200g of dextrose for priming and bottling. After reading on here and howtobrew.com I think I shouldn't have done so much sugar and no DME. What should I expect from this batch (if all goes well)? Will it taste lighter? Take more or less time to ferment? Be stronger or weaker alcohol %? Thanks all.

I assume this was a hopped extract since no boiling was involved. How many kg's did the kit contribute?

I can't tell. My helpful fiancé threw everything out. I've tried to find it online but couldn't.

Kit is 1.7kg liquid extract (hopped) and asks for 1 kg dextrose or 500g dextrose and 500g spray malt DME.

DME is..well fermentable. Like sugar. You should expect a light beer with about 6-8 days to ferment. Around 4%-4.5%. What was your original gravity?

If it's a kit then the OG is what ever it should be as stated in the kit.
I'd still let it sit 3 weeks in the fermenter and then 3 weeks in bottles reguardless of what the instructions say.

I transferred it to the secondary today and sampled my hydrometer reading. It tasted very light to start and finished bitter. It's still cloudy so it will be in secondary for awhile. Will this develop a stronger starting flavour and weaker bitter finish?
