hi ive just put my cider in to demi jhons as femntion has slowed right down after 7 days i had a we sip and its realy bitter and has a sour taste i did add shugar at the start to get me sg to 1050 my reading now is 1.00 should i add more shugar or should i just leve and see what happens thanks for any help

just forgot to say this was apples i pressed

if you are looking to sweeten it up you need to put in some unfermentable sugars. (splenda or some other type of sweetener) Best thng to do is test it on a small scale (cup or two) and then scale the amount and put it in

After 7 days? Leave it alone! It's so young, and it's not even finished fermenting yet! Wait a month or two, until it's finished and clear. Then we can help you sweeten it if you need to.

thanks for the reply how long do u think it will take to fement out ive put it back in a warm place and i can see small bubbles around the edge of the demi i was thinking of adding a carton of apple juice to it as it was so bitter tasting

If you add more apple juice, the yeast will ferment that out too. At this point, reduce the headspace by adding juice if you have headspace in the demijohn, then leave it alone until it's finished and clear. Maybe a month or so.
