Hey guys, new to the forum. Looking forward to learning some stuff about homebrewing! Quick question about the fermentation process..

I just got the Brewers Best equipment kit, with the American Pale Ale kit. I finished brewing on Saturday and put it in the primary fermenter. How long do most people keep it in the primary before switching to the secondary? The kit directions say 4-6 days (until no C02 bubbles) but that seems short to me. Seems like most people say they leave it for 1-2 weeks.

Should I stick with what Brewers best says or is that too short?

Thanks for any info, really appreciate it

I usually leave mine in the primary 3-4 weeks and I don't bother with a secondary. Gives the yeast time to cleanup and less chance of causing and infection. Secondary is usually used for dry hopping, fruit, etc. Welcome to the hobby. Cheers.

Ok, just checked and I guess Brewers best didn't say 4-6 days in primary, just 4-6 days before bubbles stop in airlock.

So there is no use in transferring from bucket to the carboy?

Oh, and I usually gelatin and cold crash prior to bottling. It really helps to ensure a crystal clear beer.
