Just tossed my first batch into the primary about an hour ago! Had a small boil over and a little bit of trouble with the OG. I'm getting an OG of about 1.050 when it should be up around 1.065. I am assuming it is due to a lack of stirring, resulting in the reading being pretty much all of the top water. Any suggestions and reassurance is welcome!

Your assumption of a bad mix would be correct, it's almost impossible to miss the OG on extract kits, unless you added way too much water:)

I'll take your word for it and assume that I am somewhere close to on track(that is all that I'm hoping for with the first batch). Will a bad mix prevent fermentation or anything? Thanks in advance to duboman and anyone else who contributes!
