WOW, what a day! I popped my AG cherry making a temperature stepped mash using steam ( See Flyguy's post ). I scored an old 16 qt pressure cooker at Goodwill for $8.99 !!

Any way, other than some calculations on the temp (how long it takes to heat up 4 gals of water), every thing went right on. My mash temp held within 1* the whole time.

I should mention that I brewed Biermunchers' https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f71/swmbo-slayer-belgian-blonde-26599/ SWMBO Slayer for SWMBO! I even did the milling myself.

Stats were: 77.78% Efficiency, 1.058 OG (smack on). It has an interesting taste right now - kinda sweet, then the hops hit you.

I also made a small Frozen Yeast bank from this starter, so there was lots of fun to be had!

Can't wait for the next one!:ban:

Congrats! Just did my first grain saturday and already ordered stuff to do another one. G/f has to look to see if there is anything I want to make so I might grab a second one.

I'm trying to fill up the pipeline for Christmas/New Years.

Congrats on the recent success! Sounds like you have been a busy guy.

That's cool that you jumped right into a steam infusion system. You will have have to post some pics of your set-up sometime soon.

congrats on the brew. i just did my first AG over the weekend with success as well can't wait to taste it

Dang you. I was in Louisville this weekend and was looking for a pressure cooker. I shouldn't have tipped you off on steam infusion. :)

Just kidding. Congrats on the setup. I can't wait to get mine going

+1, did my first as well and had an awesome time.

I used another design of FlyGuy's, the 10 gal MLT. Worked great.

Can't wait for next time!

i used flyguys design as well just for 5 gallon igloo. i added some rubber washers and hose washers for extra seal
