Took my final gravity after adding dextrose just before bottling. Would this have affected my reading? Would it be much higher due to the added dextrose or the amount is so small that it wouldn't have an impact? FG was 1.012 right on target for my APA.
Thanks

I can't find the reference, but someone has done the math before, and a typical 5 oz per 5 gallons of priming sugar adds about 0.009 gravity points. It's practically insignificant.

Just opened a bottle today. Beautiful. Nice and dry but has body so I guess my fg was right on target

Thanks topher. Did you mean 1.0009?

No, he meant for each 5 oz added, you increase gravity by .009 points. So for example, 10 oz would add .018 to whatever the pre-addition gravity was. That's if the .009 figure is correct ;)

Sugar should be 46 points per pound per gallon.
Based on my quick calcs, 5 oz of sugar in 5 gallons would be less then 3 points (< 1.003) so your FG before priming sugar was probably 1.010.

Thanks. That's sounds more accurate. 0.009 would be quite high. It would mean fg was at 0.003 which is quite dry for us-05
