I've got the 115th hop dream from northern brewer (extract kit) in the primary right now...i'm just curious if you're brewed this, what was your OG/FG reading for this brew and how big of a starter did you make?

Also, how long did it take to get to that final gravity...this is my first high OG beer, just trying to gauge from others experiences.

my OG was 1.087 and the current reading is 1.020 after 6 days...does this seem high?

Not really, no. With the higher OG beers, you have to be a little more careful in the types of yeast strains you're choosing to ferment with. I'm assuming you picked a high gravity strain of yeast and pitched the proper amount?!

Just keep a watch on your readings until the FG stabilizes for two or three days. At this point, I wouldn't be concerned at all. I'd just be patient. :)

1.087 down to 1.020 is 77% attenuation, which sounds right unless you had a large amount of adjuncts.

a few more details...

I used wyeast 1056, made one of the larger starters per northern brewers instructions... 1300ml of water with 1 cup DME and pitched in 24hrs (plenty of yeast at the bottom of the flask). pitched at 74 degrees, kept the carboy between 62-68 degrees during fermentation. Activity has really slow down the last few days, currently getting bubbles from the airlock every 20 seconds or so.

Is this just another case of RDWHAHB? lol
