Did anyone else find their cans of Galaxy Sauce to be...bad?

Tried it on tap at the brewery and thought it was pretty good, so I picked up a few cans to take home. Opened two of them over the weekend and both were dusty and spicy, almost like ground coriander. I actually had a similar poor experience with a draft pour of Overripe at a (reputable) bar, but just chalked it up to being either a bad/mislabeled keg or my tastes just being off that day.

The only can I had of Galaxy Sauce was day of the release, and it was on point, if with a slightly weird spicy finish. Good until the after-taste, though.

I had a glass of Overripe yesterday at Tap25. Although I thought it still tasted good, it did have a slight noticeable off flavor similar to that of a belgian yeast of some kind.

From the people on facebook I have seen post about their cans of Galaxy Sauce, there is a pretty clear issue and a noticeable off flavor just like the belgian yeast flavor I experienced in my Overripe. There are a lot of people pissed off about it.

I would say something is up with their house yeast. I will probably take a break from them until this issue is taken care of.

This happened to Block 15 when they used their house yeast for too many generations and it started giving off a lot of Belgian-y esters.

Frankly pretty inexcusable. Homebrewers are warned not to repitch more than about 8 times. And they don't have access to in-house labs that can prop older generations when they're reaching the end of one strains life...

I started to first hear complaints from the cans of Galaxy Juice about 3 weeks or so ago. I finally experienced it myself yesterday. I am hoping they understand it's starting to become a problem and fix it, I really like their stuff on tap.

There have been a large number of people reach out and send complaint emails, only to be told the beer is fine that they "tested". Seeing more people notice the off flavors is concerning given that they are ignoring it, for now.

You'd be shocked at how many small breweries don't have any super-tasters on the team who are sensitive to brewing flaws. It's quite possible they don't think it exists.

I have the curse of being really sensitive to diacetyl, and I've often been able to taste it in beers a brewery owner swore to me was clean. Over time, he began to realize that I wasn't making it up and presents new beers to me asking if I taste anything and saying he needs someone like me on the team.

Ah, I get diacetyl really quick too, when others I am drinking with can't seem to taste any of it. I've poured a lot of beers others seem to love. I still remember over a year ago when Cellarmaker had a lot of Diacetyl, but a lot of people didn't pick it up or seemed to ignore it.

It's possible we're talking about similar unnamed breweries...

Agree that they've improved!

Well, I suppose in a sense I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue...I guess I haven't totally lost it. Kind of a bummer, though. Sent them a message to see if I can get a refund/exchange/whatever on my last can.

They were off on the ABV on the last Galaxy Sauce Release, so they had to print new labels for the cans. That sounds like it's not dialed in to me.

Eh, figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Even Lost Abbey gave people refunds for single bottles of flat beers. I work like 10 minutes away and go frequently enough already.

I guess it's my fault for buying it. But I do I feel at least a little bit annoyed that I basically had to throw away multiple $6 cans of beer.

If you look at Fieldworks business model and overall business, it's gotta be hard for them to take their time with QC. Brew, rack, sell/sold.

Couldn't they have just said "Vermont-Style" and (hopefully) avoided this problem?

I guess I also have no idea what a Vermont[-style] farmhouse ale is even supposed to mean aside from "we're trying to duplicate a hoppy Hill Farmstead saison".

Which is literally Dorothy and variants only? E? Sue?
