A few extra treats in here today: https://revbrew.com/brewery/keg-request
illinois beer...puns and pigs. my current new favs are kings and convicts (with their flagship beer kings bitch) and guncraft, which advertises guns on instagram and on their labels. wonder why beer is considered low/middle brow.Every single one of those brewery names are terrible. It's crazy to me that you open a business with your livelihood attached to it and those are the names you choose.
Calling all Friendly Illinois Brethren who work in the loop.
Not this Thursday (Thanksgiving), but next Thursday (11/30), several of us who have done the last couple of Catalina BIFs decided to get together in person, which turned into inviting other TBers (IRL friends who are not in Catalina), which morphed into "well, why don't we just invite all FIBs?"
So if anyone is free (when? TBD, but after work) on 11/30 - we're going to meet here, across from Union Station (and close enough to several El lines): https://littletoasted.com/
Post up here or PM me if you think you can make it, so we can form a wall of FIB goodness around the right amount of space/seats.
Plus you have Blind Pig Brewery in Champaign.
someone mustve been visited by three ghosts a lil after thanksgiving.Unbeer related but an update from a topic from earlier this month. DNAInfo has reposted old stories. Don't know how long this will last, but at least the writers can access their articles and readers can reminisce.
Or the someone didn't realize there is always that one pain in the ass (ex)staffer.someone mustve been visited by three ghosts a lil after thanksgiving.
Hmm these guys might want to re-think their name: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-west-loop-distillery-1108-biz-20161108-story.html
Ugh. Can we please stop using "up and coming" adjectives to describe the West Loop. It's already up. It's already blossomed.planning a craft distillery and brewery in the city's burgeoning West Loop area

If you said "Cruz Blanca" to everyone in the Binny's line last week, 95% of them would respond "no habla Espanol".Was hoping the Cruz Blanca bottle release on Saturday would stay relatively quiet, but Urban(bro)daddy just sent an email blast listing it in weekend events to hit in Chicago. Can't wait.
damnit I kinda liked having a spot to hide and daydrink when I’m on summer hours waiting for my friends to get outa workIf you said "Cruz Blanca" to everyone in the Binny's line last week, 95% of them would respond "no habla Espanol".
Hey look, it's the week of the Thursday get-together! I should be there around 4:30, and jvanaus just said that was good for him too. If anyone will be there earlier, post it here!
¿Que?lurchingbeast - thoughts on the new VSO Wooden hell? i mean sounds like a waste, right?
Wait what’s this Thursday get together thing I like people sometimes!I unfortunately had a broker tell me they were in town and wanted to meet tonight just a few minutes ago, so I will miss out on meeting anyone who shows up, hopefully I can make it next time.
the beauty that regular was 9 months but reserve is an extra 3 months and costs 5 dollars more is so beautifully flossmoor. Will the town of Flossmoor know how to deal with 7,000 beer geeks at 5 am on a Thursday?
And how long was the real Wooden Hell in barrels for? 12 months doesn't seem like much for a "private reserve".
For those who will be in attendance tonight...went to Blaze Pizza with some coworkers for lunch, and dropped something (and failed to notice/let sit for a minute or two) greasy on my shirt. Depending on the lighting, decent grease stain front and center.
*sigh* probably best to make an accurate first impression though
2006 is pretty much paleolithic era in craft beer terms, right?"dubbed the best beer the world (and underworld) has ever seen, is a 9.1% alcohol by volume (ABV) barrel aged barleywine that received bronze in its category at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival."
