We bought some Regular and barleywine at our Jewel with no trouble either.

At breakfast now.. Probably heading in to the city for some draft options and the noon tasting in a bit.

Odd how Binnys seems to have dwarfed Jewel this year when last year was the opposite. Did the award rules change at the distributor?

Other site makes the whole release morning sound terrible pretty much everywhere. Especially LP.

Jewel doesnt care and consistently does an awful job rolling out these special limited releases
Take your business elsewhere, like the Beer Temple or another high quality beer shop. They specialize and focus on craft beer and know the ins and outs of running a release. Sorry about your ****** experience.
Sure but… my closest Jewel is 3 blocks away. And I could wander over just now and get 4 bottles of regular @$9.99. Other than Beer Temple, which I think sticks well to a first-/first-serve approach, I have to be good friends with these other stores.

People showed up by 6am at this Jewel and variants sold out at 7:30 when they started selling. Would like to get a bottle of Coffee still but I won’t hold my breath.

Chatter on the site suggests the big LP Binnys release is less organized than ever.

I went to the southport location and couldn't disagree more. Very well run. Well organized and there was a manager on hand passing out cards asking for feedback for the future. Prices cant be beat either $10 for regular $13 coffee/bw and $22 for prop.

It was on my way to work, I start at 730. I don't have time to do a more traditional release. I won't chase and go store to store any more, just not personally worth it.

Also the concept of "taking your business to a high quality shop" is great in theory but pretty much impossible... Especially with this release.

You'd still have to be in line TOMORROW with everyone else to get bottles at that particular establishment. I'm sure plenty of people will miss out there too

I hit up Jewel in Lisle, one of their ultra mega release stores. Got in line around 4:30 and was around 40 in line. Somehow when they handed out the free snifters to the first 50, I ended up at 52 and Northwoods ran out two people in front of me. Thank you line cutters. Kinda salty about it, but whatever, people suck and I still got some bourbon county.

I think if these stores are advertising these events they should have someone out their handing out tickets or wristbands or something because you clearly can't trust adults to just ******* go to the back of the line, like you learn to do in school.

The Jewel I went to had like 20 people in line. So their strategy was to let people get back in line after the first run through. They sold out right away.
Thank you line cutters.
One of these releases the wrong guy is going to get cut in front of.

Got Reserve, Coffee, and Prop at Costco. Reserve and Prop were $17. They did **** up the Regular allotment, which was supposed to be 4 but they were only letting 4 bottles total. So the Jewels on the way back to the in-laws allowed me 4 Regs and I'm done in about an hour.

And yeah, Jewels was $10 after $1 off because what?

Variants at Costco? Which one?

Mettawa? It's the closest one to the in-laws. I got the last bottles of each variant, and since I walked in with the small crowd lined up (only about 20% there for beer), I get the impression they might have had a case of each max. Honestly wasn't expecting anything other than the 4 Regular I've gotten there the last couple years but whatever. Drinking the Coffee now and absolutely sure that Cafe Deth is a better beer.

I went to jewel and got 6 regular and rolled by a small store and got one of everything. No line waiting. I work 12-9 today so I can understand your situation> jewel should have been more clear with their advertising IMO

The way they handled their BTAC and Pappy allotments was laughable

Drank all of this year at Warren's in Wheaton with no effort. Went in expecting to hate Prop, but damn that is really good. Coffee is great as well. Reserve is good, but side by side with regular, it didn't seem worth a 150% price increase. Northwoods is fake flavors and beetus. Barleywine, I'll just say I miss the 3rd use barreling of '13 and '14.

ABC7 News has a segment coming up about BCBS @ LP Binny’s. Is this the official jumping of the proverbial beer shark?

PS: just bought 2 regular at the Jewel in LF. Officially a FIB again.

Nah there's press every year, WGN/ABC/Fox/WGN have all run stories on it before. I'm super bummed about what i'm hearing from this year though. Ironically i made a heartfelt FB post about how i feel every year not being there last night...it's weird, i still get anxious every thanksgiving evening and my last BF was 2014.

On a related note i put bottles of Coffee 16 on the menu at Pub today tho

Just cracked my last OG prop in honor of not waiting or buying any bcs...it’s one of the super punchy coconut ones. hooray beer.
