Is there a benefit to using a carboy to a fermentation bucket? If so; what?

One is being able to watch the fermentation happening!!

The only advantage I can think of is you can see what's happening. Personally, I believe the risk is too great. Therefore, I use a bucket.

use a bucket or if you want to watch the fermentation get a Better Bottle

I use a bucket that's translucent, so I can see what's going on inside. Not sure what brand it is, but its large enough to ferment 6 gallons with plenty of headroom for the strongest fermentations.
