Hello,

I started some cider using maplesyrup instead of sugar.
Well it was at og of 1060 in two days all bubbles stopped completely so i thought i'd check gravity and it was at 1000.
what is normally where it ends, if i understand correctly.
Yet the smell of apples is really strong and doesnt smell that much of cider/alchole.

Should i add more maplesyrup?
or just leave it. :S

Believe the hydro. Fermentation can happen very fast in cider using only juice and sugar. What kind of juice did you use?
Adding more syrup will just make the abv go up. You're already up over 7.8% now.

just 100% apple juice brought from a supermarket :)
I've left it to clear now. Will check it in a few days

I'm about to start a cider as well as soon as my starter is ready. How much maple syrup did you use per gallon of apple juice/cider? I'm shooting for about the same starting OG.

I brought a pot erm, it filled about half a pint what i topped up with hot water to make sure it melted okay.
For a guess their was about 275ml in the pot?
Didn't actually read it.

this is based on one gallon.
can i add i'd say after tasting you can smell the maple, yet taste is little, my sister said it is drink able, i think you should add around 200g of sugar aswell per 1 gallon to boast the ABV then back sweeten it with the same or half the amount of maple afterwards.
Please remember im only experimenting

To anyone who comes across this in the future.... I added 1lb of honey to 3.25 gallons of apple cider. OG came in at 1.055. I was shooting for 1.060 but I figured I'd be conservative considering 1.060 would yeild around 8%. 1.055 is perfect if I end up around 1.000.
