When your brew starts fermenting does it warm up the temp of the brew because of all the activity from the yeast? Was wondering cause my temp has gone up 4 degrees since it started and its in the same room with same temperature. Thanks!
The yeast is going to release heat as it converts sugar to alcohol for an exothermic reaction. I've seen a couple of my batches easily 4-5* warmer in the tub generally right after it gets going when there is more O2 in wort.
If you were really targeting a certain ferment temp you might even lower the ambient room temp to offset the temp change. I've noticed some big differences between the same batches and the only difference being ferment temp. So while it's not really going to matter for your beer the temp during fermentation can and does affect the final product.
