Fermentation is insane-- should I be worried about seeping?

So my airlock got filled with beer and krausen immediately two times after I cleaned the airlock. I decided to go to a blow off. I got home from class about an hour ago and noticed the tube could be getting clogged. I touched the lid and it seemed really stiff due to the co2 gas. Then I realized the beer seeping through on the sides of the lid. Is that ok? Nothing will get infected right? I figured it wouldn't due to the layer of co2 and the alcohol that is already converted but it's something I havent seen before.

Just a strong fermentation. Bear with it and sanitize once it stops being so aggressive, you should be fine.

Should be fine, just keep the area around the blow-off clean by spraying with some Star-San and whipping. Those small blow-off tubes will plug easily with some fermentation's. I started using only 1" tubes several years ago for that reason.

Keep an eye on it, but you've done the right thing by adding the blowoff. Should be fine (but keep an eye on it!)

Are you using Fermcap-S? If not, that stuff is a lifesaver. A few drops keep the krausen in check. I had the same situation you're in on my third or fourth batch. Started using Fermcap, and I've never seen that problem again - even when I fill a 6 gallon fermenter with 5.5 gallons of wort. Cheers!

Nope! Thanks for the info, this actually IS my third batch so that tip helps. The fermentation is impressive. Worrisome, but impressive. In my two other batches I've used Safale-04. This particular DIPA called for the Safale-05 strand, and my LHBS didn't have any in stock so he suggested Bry-97 and man is this stuff rockin'.

I'd hate to start a new thread on a relevant topic so I will post in this one and hope that my question gets answered.

So like the pictures above of my lid leak, it go a lot heavier, and more leaked out. Everything seems fine, and it was just the yeast doing its thing. But I was curious, when I open my fermenter to check my gravity and dry hop, should I sanitize the lid and the rim of the bucket just so that stuff that leaked out doesn't some how manage to crust off and get into my beer? If I should, how should I do it? Soak a paper towel with starsan? Just spray starsan? Some input would be great!

I'd recommend lifting the lid and cleaning and sanitizing around the seal area as soon as the beer settles down. Any sugars/sweetness on the outside may attract bugs.
