Tried to find an answer to this specific question but couldn't. I just put a 2L starter on the stir plate with 2 drops of fermcap. I plan to chill & decant into to two mason jars. I will then step each of those up into another 2L starter.
My question is if I need to add fermcap again? I know it precipitates out but won't making another starter kick that back up into solution? Is it still viable? Is that enough to prevent krausen blow off? If I add more fermcap is there any danger/detriment to adding to much after multi steps?
I like to keep a single vial going by continually making starters and splitting them. The issue I have had is once the pitches get beyond the first step they tend to go crazy and blow out. Even in a 1 gal jug. Thanks in advance for the help.
