Can you ferment in original carboy for too long? Tomorrow will be five weeks.

You can, but 5 weeks is not at all considered near to long. I got caught up at school and left 1 in primary for 9 weeks, no problem. You secondary it to a carboy/keg if you are making a beer that needs to age for a few months. Such as a barleywine or Quad that needs 6+ months
