I was kinda hoping he'd hang em up. I thought beating a pretty good Bear team was a pretty good way to end it for a Packer. I just don't see what he has to prove.

Why don't they just announce this on Sunday to take even more headlines away from the Bears/Colts?
At least he didn't drag it out as long as last off-season.

I think it's telling that 2 Bears fans responded right away.

Scared?

Of what?

I actually respect the guy quite a bit. I think he's holding the franchise back from being competitive in the near future by hanging around. They're kinds stuck between rebuilding and the past.

Of losing.

It was the Bears primary goal to beat the Packers. That's been stated when the organization hired Smith and it's recently been stated by Smith himself as he outlined his goals leading up to the Super Bowl.

So which is it? Is Favre causing this? Both teams have the same divisional record. I can point to 4 games the Bears could have easily lost (MN, AZ, TB, DET) and 3 the Pack lost closely (NO, SEA, STL)... My opinion is that the Bears are just fortunate that they didn't need the W in that last game or thier playoffs could have been a different story.

It's moot now, the Bears are in and can win it all. It doesn't change my opinion that this is just a blip and we'll be back to the Mortal Deathlock that is the NFC North next year.

ETA: Ask yourself if how you would have felt if the Pack got the last Playoff spot instead of the Giants.

The Commish had to tell Jerry Jones to shut up about his head coach during Super Bowl week, why isn't he saying it to the Packers?
I'm not scared of him coming back. Are they going to win the Super Bowl next year? They could pull a Rams but I doubt it.

Not quite - the first STEP when he joined was beating the Packers. The primary goal is always to win the Super Bowl

I would have been happy - I don't really hate the Packers. Given the choice I'd rather have 2 North team in the Playoffs. And typically, I pull for division reps in the playoffs.

I'm just not mature enough to do that.:D

173 Games 79-88-6 Bears lead the series by 9

Maybe in 5 years after we reel off the next 10 wins to pull ahead.

Yeah, it is a REALLY good day. I am so psyched.

Honestly though, I hope this is the last year, and I wish Brett would announce that in his first press conference back.

Guess I better get working on that "4's Ale" recipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!!!!!

How could he possibly hold the franchise back? And don't even start with the tired old money thing The Pack is like $28 million UNDER the cap even with Favre. He can only make the team better, esp considering the backup.

BTW...........

YES!!!!!!!!one more year!!!!!

Watching him get that record (and possibly make one more playoff run) is gonna ba almost as much fun as it was to watch Robin Yount get his 3000th hit.:D
