What's the deal with the Perlick faucets? Are they that much better than a standard faucet? If so why? I did a search and couldn't find any threads.

they are light years better than the standard faucets. just do yourself a favor and buy perlicks from the start. they are 'forward sealing,' which means they make an airtight barrier between the beer and the pouring part of the faucet (limits mold and other crud from growing). this action results in a tapping mechanism that works every time just like it did when you first installed it. those standard faucets can get stuck if you don't use them everyday and be damn near impossible to get unstuck without a ton of force. i've had both and will never mount use a standard faucet again.

I agree, Perlicks are well worth the price difference. I have two 525SS faucets and one standard faucet on my kegerator. They are way smoother to operate, easier to clean and maintain, and look much nicer to boot.

I picked up two used flow controlled perlicks for $50. I don't think I could aver settle for anything less now that I've used them

You have to go with the Perlicks, then anytime you're at a bar and you see that they have standard faucets, you can scoff at them.

Nice work....you will be glad you did. I added a tap to my kegorator and got 2 perlicks and all i can say is wow........functions way better not to mention they jsut look really cool too. Everyone that sees them is like....wow....look at the fancy taps!!!!!

Good move! I love my Perlicks, I had a standard faucet gum shut, trying to force it open it broke the tap handle off, nanoseconds after it cracked open, spraying beer from the tap that I couldnt shut off. by the time I opened up the kegerator and popped off the coupler to stop the flood, I had lost several pints of overflow down the drain.

My dad got me two perlicks for christmas, and they've been great! I don't have to purge my beerlines with water any time I'm gonna be got for a couple of days anymore, they work smoothly every time, no matter how long they've lain dormant.

I guess I don't have as many problems with my Cheap 'n Crappy Taps, or CCTs as I like to call them. If they stick after several days I just gently pull the handle as normal while pressing in on the plunger dohicky on the front. Works great. Kyle
