So I made a beer 7 days ago. I wanted to serve it in 6 days. I already planned a low abv easy pale. I just wanted to know if I should add gelatin to the beer and what's the best option. It's fully fermented and starting to clear. Should I add gelatin to primary, before I cold crash? Im planning on crashing for 2 days then carbing 2 days... im guessing gelatin today then proceed with crash/keg. Thanks for help! Cheers

There's some debate as to when to add gelatin.

I prefer to add it to the beer once it's cold (after crashing), letting it sit a few more days, and then kegging. It works for me. YMMV.

I cold crash to near freezing then add gelatin. I hold it at near freezing for 2 days after adding the gelatin.

Ive heard chill first.. but will it hurt to add it ambient?

Won't hurt anything, I believe it is just more effective at colder temps. Just be aware that it will take a good 24 hrs to chill, so 2 days of cold crash is really only one. I would get it cold, add gelatin and keg it 2 days after that, it will still clear more in the keg.

Sounds good. Thanks.. here's another question, would secondary before cold crashing help? Thinking it might stir up sediment

It theoretically could help, yes. By the same token, theoretically you are also providing more opportunity for oxidation.

I don't bother with secondaries myself. Cold crash/gelatin in primary, then keg.

Either way will work though.

No, just cold crash in primary. Doing a secondary adds more risk than benefit in your situation.

Soo the final product turned our better than expected. It was a lil hazy.. but what do you expect in 13 days. I added gelatin but in 40 hours didn't do much.. O well a success. Thanks for the help
