I got thrown off by the two-week game. I don't remember them doing that in years past. I thought the All-Star week was still one game, not drag it out to two weeks. It sucks for people who are in a deep hole against an opponent who put up monster numbers in the first couple days.

The Angels acquired Dan Haren from Arizona on the CHEAP! they got rid of Joe Saunders and a few low level prospects for the 2nd most sought after pitcher on the market.

Where's Oswalt gonna end up????

I'd like to think he'd end up on the Mets, but that isn't going to happen. Oswalts a country boy. I say he ends up with the Braves to put a nail in the NL East coffin.

Plus Cy Young himself couldn't help the Mets win, unless he swings the bat like Ruth.

So much for Oswalt "not wanting " to play in Philly...Halladay,Oswalt,and Hamels. Thats a solid rotation. Phillies should be able to hold off the NL east while Utley and Victorino heal up on the DL...damn, being a dodgers fan is tough. I wish we had an owner who wasnt a broke moron.

With beltran back you guys should be hitting soon. I really thought the mets would make some noise on before the deadline. I had Oswalt, Berkman and Lilly move, all to pretty good teams :mug:

Nice dude! They almost all ended up on the same team actually. I think the Yankees looked at Lilly too.

I think the Mets saw that the NL East got a whole lot younger this year with Strasburg, Domonic Brown, Mike Stanton, etc. starting to develop. They feel they have an outside chance of getting healthy and getting hot this year and maybe making the playoffs. They'll probably make some splashes this offseason, mostly with coaching changes.

So I had won my match-up when I went to bed...and now that I check, they must have made some point adjustments to my opponent's team which gave him a 2 point win....such BS

That's happened to me once this year too. Makes Monday that much more miserable.

Sorry man. Go home early and have a homebrew.

Sweet pitching today!

One no decision, a loss and a blown save...

You're pitching staff did ALOT better than mine! With the exception of T.Cahill, my rotation was BRUTAL this week!!! Good thing I was on vacation all week and didn't have to suffer the humiliating beatdown I got this week....

Oh and good thing I decided to let A.Dunn ride the pine while I was up i the High Sierras:mad:

very excited to get a great outfielder, very sorry to let go the rangers "W" phenom and marcum the "K" man and axford has suprised almost everyone but hopefully the rest of my rotation can shoulder the big loss

very excited to wrap up one of the best out fielders, sorry to let go the rangers "W" phenom and marcum and axford has suprised almost everyone but should work out especially to keep

CarGo is a stud outfielder...If the rockies stay hot, it should help you(not like you need it) down the stretch

Gah!

DUDE beat me to Jeremy Hellickson. I'd picked him up for his debut outing, in which he was money, then the rays sent him down again. I dropped him for the roster space, but Dude beat me to the punch when he re-activated. Nice grab!

Didnt get the chance to congrat PEIY on the high krausen, it stung a little losing it on the last day but Brandon Morrow...WOW...it had to be bitter sweet the lone hit coming from his own Evan Longoria. But none the less this year has been very entertaining watching pitchers.

I know I felt the same last week when I was up in alaska fishing for the first half of the week stuck with limited internet access, I was like man after checking on Hellboys status about twice a week I miss his call up and to the guy Im up against...was sad to hear about Maddon saying he will be a reliever in sept but when I read last night about Davis and the possibility of Hellboys return... it took me a little to pull the trigger but this morning at 4 am pacific time I had some trouble sleeping(might have been the late energy drink) and had to jump on and see if someone grabbed him...scherzers a tough match but lets hope he stays active. I was lucky indead, especially cause I dont like to count on a player like davis getting hurt.

Last week you had me worried while i was in kodiak, got back wed and was still worried up until about friday but glad pujols brought me some run support.

Yeah. Forgetting the baseball for a while, how was the fishing? King Salmon? Coho? Sockeye?

It was awesome, two days fishing on the bering, all together two halibut, one 15 lb., one 70 lb. two good size ling cod, about 15-20 rock fish. then spent a day fishing some salmon out of the stream. Hooked about 5 myself, took home 2 cohos. It was awesome. Had a kodiak bear sneak up on me while I was up to my chest in the middle of the river. Luckily when I stood my ground it walked away, probly smelled the fish i cleaned but couldnt see the stringer in the water. Got a pick but not until it was an afterthought when he walked away. He had a 7 foot stride so he was pretty big.

He was about 30 feet behind me from where I was at, my stringer was about 10 feet behind me

Pretty lucky i would say all the locals have nothing but stories of bear mauls

I think that Bear knew that he'd waste more energy if he ate you since you weigh "a buck 130" soaking wet! Cool pics

It was so brutal watching the dodgers squander an 8 run lead to LOSE to the Phillies last night. Why oh why didn't Torre bring the hook when Broxton loaded the bases and had 0 outs in the ninth...

Jeremy Shook(portland perlicks)THANKS again for NOT accepting my trade of T.Cahill for Broxton last month!

I got a response from the owner of the North Burb Brewers today. He apologized for not following the team. He said that he's been going through some rough times, and hasn't had the time to focus on the fantasy team.

Considering we're about 2-3 weeks from the playoffs, I say we just let it go and get a new owner next season.

In other news, I'm thinking about your trade offer, Dave. That's a tough one to turn down.

Hmmm,I hate to be a PITA, but it's really not fair if "we just let it go" for 4 more weeks. I brought this up to you JohnnyO almost 2 weeks before I played North Burb Brewers...We've had the great fortune to find replacement owners in Ray and CB this year. I'm sure we'd fins someone who loves baseball and is willing to be active.

This is a keeper league after all. The team is good! it's just not managed well, or rather at all.

These next 4 weeks will count for ALOT since there's only 4 playoff spots which makes ("divisons" pointless by the way) So why shouldn't we get another owner who wants to be active in our league?

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in since I hate having one team in our league that isn't active.

I'd put it out to the HBT community if anyone was interested.

No one responded.

The only thing I can think of is if I took over the team and at least made the current lineup competitive.

I'm not in that division, so I don't have a vested interest in how the team does (that I can think of).

Other ideas?

You were quick to get replacement teams before(which worked out great for the league)....Two guys with one team is not a good idea.

Not sure why this conversation didn't happen when I brought this up to you before....

I'm not sure I follow what you mean about not having a "conversation about this before." I put it out to the HBT community that we might be looking for a new owner, while I looked to contact the owner. I just got a response from the guy today, and posted it up here.

I'd like to hear some suggestions from others in the league before we continue.

Have a good night, O.

Johnny, If you want to refresh your memory, then you can look up my PM from 7/27/10 titled NORTH BURB BREWERS...We discussed in detail the deadbeat team in question.

I can post the PM's if you'd like.

Having a great night, thanks Johnny.

I was in support of finding a new owner at the time, yes. I didn't expect to get a response from the guy almost a month later.

It's been a fun year with this league. I really don't appreciate your tone tonight, Othon. If we have someone who comes forward and is interested in taking over the team, I'd be more than happy to slot them in.

Johnny, I saw this as having the potential to become a problem that's why I brought it to your attention, you're the Commish after all. Giving someone that much time to be inactive is just a waste. Just imagine if Ray W. and CB G. were part of our league from the get go- We'd have an even greater playoff race right now:rockin:

Dave(Urban Achievers) and I were talking about this situation just last night...I'm sorry if I ruffled your feathers, but I'm just telling the truth about the deadbeat team we have in our league.

Hopefully we get another awesome replacement to take over this team. 3rd time is the charm after all.

You know, you're absolutely right. I had simply assumed that we wouldn't find someone who would want to take on a team with just a few short weeks to go. Thanks for pulling me on the carpet on that.

Let's see if we can shake a few trees and see if we can find an owner.
